BREATHE

Light and water sculpture

Completed: 2004

Dimensions: 23m long x 2.4m high

Location: Tacoma, WA, USA

Commissioned: Tacoma Museum of Contemporary Art

An installation dealing with the beauty of reflection, this work formed one of a series of sculptural works placed in the reflection pond of the Museum for periods up to 3 years. Slender polycarbonate poles with an internal fibre optic cable move gently in the harbour breeze. In the manner of a gentle breath the accompanying reflections move and ripple in accord with the breeze.

Subsequent to its de-installation the work was reconfigured for the Vancouver Winter Olympic Village.
